Hunnington 2027 Calendars
The Calendar Team have designed the Hunnington 2027 calendar, once again featuring photographs taken locally by Alec Longhurst AKA “Stormchaser Al”. The calendars will be £5 each and available from late November/early December. Keep an eye on the Hunnington WhatsApp group for further information! Please note that this this is a Hunnington residents initiative, not a Parish Council initiative.

Goodrest Farm BESS Update 9th October 2026
It is now a year since the Goodrest Farm BESS application was approved the Bromsgrove Planning Committee (9th October), so we thought this was an appropriate time to provide an update. Since the application was approved, we have been monitoring the overall BESS situation very closely and there has been some significant developments which affect the Grenergy application. A brief summary is shown below, but we do advise that you read the full update in the link provided at the end.
- Goodrest Farm is still shown as Gate 1 in the NESO/NGED datasets with a connection date of 2035.
- NESO have announced that the Gate 2 priority schemes alone still show an oversupply of 310% against targets.
- Goodrest Farm is not in the Kitwell connection queue, despite Grenergy having planning permission. Kitwell is also shown as having zero headroom and requires an upgrade, scheduled for 2033. It is therefore unlikely that Goodrest Farm will be built before that date, if at all.
- NESO are now proposing an “Oversubscribed. Technologies Commitment Fee” (OTCF) which is a pay to stay fee for simply staying in the Gate 2 queue. This could incur significant further costs for Grenergy.
- The Goodrest Farm planning application lapses in October 2028 (3 years after approval).

Chris Bloore MP and Local Area Energy Plans
HPC is in frequent contact with Feckenham Parish Council, as they are also located close to a National Grid substation, and are subject to BESS applications from companies such as Grenergy. Chris Bloore (MP for Redditch) is sponsoring a private members bill for compulsory “Local Area Energy Plans” (LAEPs) to ensure that there is proper coordination of where infrastructure is placed and that they fit within a wider strategy. This is in contrast to the current speculative “free for all” forcing communities like Hunnington and Feckenham into an unsupported defensive role. Goodrest Farm Bess Approval 9th October 2025
Sadly, last night the Goodrest Farm BESS application was approved by the Bromsgrove District Council Planning Committee.
